the Old Aglantzia Fatherhouse

A light-filled heritage home in old Aglantzia, Nicosia

We’re excited to share the Fatherhouse –either parts, or the entire place. It’s a welcoming family home and community space in the historic centre of Aglantzia. It has been recently renovated while retaining the atmosphere of an older neighbourhood home, and is set among the stone-paved streets of old Aglantzia. The kitchen connects with the dining and living spaces and opens directly onto the enclosed garden, creating a relaxed setting for shared meals, play, reading and unhurried time together. The house is particularly suitable for families, couples, visiting artists and researchers, or travellers looking for a more personal alternative.

The Fatherhouse can accommodate up to five guests and includes:

  • A fully equipped kitchen
  • Dining and living areas
  • A comfortable fireplace room
  • One bathroom (shower) and two additional toilet (conventional and ottoman)
  • An enclosed garden
  • Wi-Fi
  • Flexible workspace
  • Air conditioning and heating
  • Washing machine

Children and pets are welcome by prior agreement.

The story of the house: The Fatherhouse has long been connected with cooperative and community life. In the 1940s, it was the home of an important participant in Cyprus’s local cooperative movement. Many decades later, the house became a meeting place for educational, cultural and community initiatives, including a parents’ childcare cooperative and activities inspired by holistic and Waldorf approaches to childhood. Today, it is first and foremost a lived-in family home: informal, creative and full of books, objects, toys and traces of the people and projects that have passed through it. Guests are invited to enjoy it with the same spirit of care.

Within walking distance, guests can find:

  • Local cafés and restaurants
  • Supermarkets and everyday services
  • Parks and playgrounds
  • The Skali Aglantzias open-air amphitheatre
  • Walking routes through old Aglantzia

The Kapnos Airport Shuttle station at the entrance to Nicosia is approximately three minutes away by car, while the historic walled city and central Nicosia can usually be reached in under ten minutes by car. Bus connections are also available.

The Fatherhouse is a real home, offered to guests when its residents are away. It will appeal most to visitors who appreciate character, family life, books, art, community histories and the small imperfections of a house that is actively lived in.
